Leading research in tunneling and underground technologies
Learn MoreThe Center of Underground Space Technology (CUST) was established by the Syndicate of IUBAT on September 3, 2024. The center aims to provide a platform for research, learning, and teaching in the field of underground space technology. Its primary focus is on reducing the risk of failure in underground structures caused by natural hazards. Additionally, CUST seeks to assist the government of Bangladesh in strengthening and maintaining underground structures across the country, helping to prevent failures related to such hazards.
The administration and management of the Center is vested in a Board of Advisors (BOA), with the Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT serving as the chief patron. The Research and Academic Committee (RAC), which includes the Director, Coordinator, all Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and other members as outlined in the rules and regulations of CUST at IUBAT, is responsible for overseeing the academic, research, and training programs.
The key strength of CUST at IUBAT lies in its extensive research activities in tunneling and trenchless technologies. CUST at IUBAT will collaborate with a wide range of national and international organizations on various research projects. These collaborations will enable CUST to leverage diverse expertise, resources, and networks to address the complex challenges in tunneling and trenchless technology.
